One multiplication nobody official will do for you.
Why this exists
The EPA knows exactly how much electricity your refrigerator uses — it certified the number. The EIA knows exactly what a kilowatt-hour costs where you live — it publishes it every month. Neither will tell you what your refrigerator costs to run, because that would mean one agency using another's data to make a claim about your money.
So the question gets answered instead by blog posts that guess a wattage and assume a national average price. WattCost just does the multiplication, names both sources, and shows the arithmetic.
Scope
United States only, because the certified energy data and the price data are both American. Categories are limited to those where the EPA publishes a real annual kWh figure — see the method page for what that excludes and why.

How it is funded
Google AdSense. No appliance manufacturer or retailer pays for placement, and no model has ever been promoted or buried. The rankings are the certified numbers in order.
